Two New Metal Gear Online Expansions on the way |
|
|
By JimSensei on Sunday, 14.09.08 @ 03:30:25 AM |

In the latest issue of Dengeki Playstation (a Japanese gaming magazine), Kojima Productions has revealed the MEME Expansion Pack for Metal Gear Online. Details of what this Expansion Pack is set to include can be found below!
Three New Maps -A snow map. Some people are saying the snowfield where you battle a certain boss in MGS4, others are saying High Ice from MGO Classic. -A forest/jungle map. Not much is said about this new map, besides the color palette resembling Svyatogornyj East. -A map with a ruin in the middle of it. C'mon, what else could this be besides Ghost Factory from MGO Classic/Plus?
A New Character -Nothing revealed about 'em. Said to have a sweet, awesome, killer ability (it's Raiden).
New Features -Once again, nothing revealed. Just promises that these new features will BLOW YOUR MIND AHHHHHHH.
And another is on the way! -That's right! KojiPro has also confirmed that another expansion pack is right around the corner. How else does Kojima dress up so lavishly? With your money, that's how!

The World Championship, and What Went Wrong |
|
|
By JimSensei on Wednesday, 03.09.08 @ 07:38:27 PM |

So, if you remember reading one of my older news posts about a week or so ago, I mentioned how dead the World Championship was in America. I didn't elaborate as to how dead it was, so before I link you all to a recent article I wrote up, I figured I would do so now;

Right, moving on.
I wrote up 2,000 words of raging because I was one of the few who got screwed out of the event and my chance of going to Japan with 4,000 dollars in my pocket, an event that occured due to the few months of aging I have to do until I'm 18.
Just kidding! I wrote this editorial piece because I felt that by pointing out flaws in Konami's organizational skills, hopefully, I can send these into my quoted sources and have this run through the corporate ladder and maybe, just possibly, make a change.
No, really, I'm just pissed off I'm not going to Japan with 4,000 dollars in my pocket.
In all seriousness, be sure to check it out. If you're someone who enjoys MGO, it might be of interest to you. Especially the international players who have it so easy and want to see others suffer. If not, check it out regardless. Some good stories in this here piece, maw.

Ryan Payton on Japan, Xbox 360, and the translation for MGS4 |
|
|
By JimSensei on Sunday, 31.08.08 @ 06:27:17 PM |

GameSpot has posted an interview featuring none other than Ryan Payton, former Assistant Producer for Kojima Productions.
The interview doesn't go too much into his departure from KojiPro, but does detail a little about his schedule since leaving the Kojima group. Other interesting tidbits include his opinion of the Xbox 360 in Japan, the crowded Holiday season of 2007 and how that played a role in MGS4's delay, and some details on the work that went into MGS4's translation.
"When you do that you get in trouble, you get bad anime."
All in all, a very interesting interview. The voice-over scenes included in the English documentary that came with the Limited Edition got me curious as to how much change was implemented between the original Japanese script into the English translation.

The All New TUS Clan, Reward Store updates, and the WC2008! |
|
|
By JimSensei on Friday, 29.08.08 @ 04:46:49 AM |

To go along with the upcoming TUS 4.0 update, we've decided to revamp and restructure all forms of the MGO TUS Clan.
Originally, we had a clan with about 64 members, half of whom were active with many other potential members wishing to join. We've completely purged the original clan to make room for MGS:TUS Alpha, a clan that'll focus on the competitive side of MGO (Survival matches, WC2008, etcetera). In addition, MGS:TUS Bravo will now be casual-focused, meaning if you want to avoid all the GRUELLING TRAINING SESSIONS and HIGH INTENSITY MGO WORKOUTS and just play with other fellow TUSers, join up and go for it.
The full details of this change can be read over in the also-newly-revamped TUS Clan forum.
Moving on, some members of the MGO community noticed that Kojima Productions have previews of every pattern uploaded to their website already. If you're itching to catch a glance at what Kojima Productions has in the pipeline for the Reward Shop, be sure to check out this topic.
And in closing, just a brief a reminder for all MGOWC2008 competitors; the bracket starts next week. From the looks of things, the North American leg of the tournament seems a little dead, so everyone - register and get playing! |
